Lucky Beach Cafe
Tucked away right on Brighton’s scenic seafront, Lucky Beach Cafe isn’t just your average beachside hangout-it’s the place that locals brag about and tourists stumble upon with wide-eyed wonder. Found at Kings Road Arches, 183 Kings Rd, Brighton BN1 1NB, this women-owned gem takes full advantage of its beachfront location with relaxed outdoor seating, a laid-back vibe, and a menu that punches well above its weight.
Let’s talk about the food-because that’s what Lucky Beach Cafe does best. They serve up Fish and Chips the way it should be: light, crisp batter, tender flaky fish, and skin-on fries that whisper seaside nostalgia with every bite. You’ll also spot their Korean Fish and Chips twist on the menu, which adds a tangy, spicy flair for those looking to break from tradition.
Early riser? You’ll want to order the Full English Breakfast or their crowd-pleasing Eggs Benedict, which comes in a few decadent varieties including a seafood lover’s dream: Crab Benedict. If you’re after something fresher, lighter, and still packed with flavor, the Avocado on Toast delivers clean, vibrant flavors with a hint of citrus that brightens up your whole morning.
Now, I don’t say this lightly-but the drinks here deserve their own shout-out. The freshly pressed juices come cold and refreshing, with passion fruit being a big hit during the warmer months. Craving a morning caffeine fix? Their coffees and lattes are locally roasted, velvety smooth, and barista-crafted with consistency. But if you're easing into beach mode, go for a cheeky Mojito, a classic Cider, or their citrusy Aperol Spritz, best sipped while watching the waves roll in.
Let’s not ignore the Crab Bruschetta, a unique small plate that combines tender crab meat with crusty bread and light seasoning-a dish that feels fancy without trying too hard. Their Fresh Calamari and Chips is another example of seaside simplicity done right: lightly fried, never rubbery, and seasoned to perfection.
While the menu is certainly a huge draw, the vibe at Lucky Beach Cafe seals the deal. It's welcoming, casual, and completely unpretentious. The place has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, making it inclusive and thoughtfully laid out, although facilities like parking and toilets may not be fully accessible. Still, it’s a friendly, chill environment that’s equally good for solo diners, groups, or even a brunch date that turns into lunch.
Coffee lovers will be thrilled to know that Lucky Beach doesn’t skimp on the good stuff. With a great tea selection and a reputation for serving excellent coffee and desserts, it's become a hotspot not just for meals but for midday pick-me-ups. Whether you’re grabbing Hot Chocolate on a breezy afternoon or lingering with a slice of something sweet after lunch, there’s always a reason to stay a little longer.
With the option for delivery, takeaway, and dine-in, it caters to every kind of guest. And yes, the beer selection is spot on, proving that even a beach cafe can have a pub-worthy drinks list without losing its identity.
There’s something about Lucky Beach Cafe that feels authentic. Maybe it’s the salt in the air, maybe it’s the way your food arrives like it was made just for you. Whatever it is, this place lives up to its name. Lucky, indeed.

Great service and food was tasty. Came for a full English and avocado on focaccia. Later on it was happy hour so we came back for drinks too! Id come back! Friendly staff too and nice location!
The staff were so lovely, and quick. We sat inside up the stairs to get away from the wind, but to still lookout over the beach, this was not an issue for our server who ran up and down with our drinks and food. The food 1000/10, me and my husband shared the ‘Lucky Catch’ which was large fish and calamari with chips, mushy peas and dips. It is not a sharing platter, but just enough for the two of us to have a nice sized lunch. The batter on the fish, calamari and the surprise bits of either butternut squash or sweet potato, was so crisp and delicious. The fries were lovely and salty and the mushy peas, soooo buttery!! This is a must go just for the peas!! Along with two ciders and a Pepsi max, I would say it is not a bad price.
Whenever we come down to Brighton we always come here for lunch. The fish batter is phenomenal and the fish is always so fresh. Been coming for years! The drinks are great as are the staff - just need the weather!
A lovely spot right on the beach. The drinks were very nice - I particularly enjoyed my Bloody Mary. For food, I ordered fish and chips which was very nice - the mushy peas were also outstanding. Because the sun was shining, they were very busy, but were friendly and efficient. Overall, it was very nice and if you’re looking for somewhere nice for lunch on the beach - Lucky Beach Cafe is a good choice.
Local fish and Chips are crazy good! Didn’t expected that to be this good. It’s a nice weather out with this fish and ships together with a beer is made my day. Even green salad is good for side dish. Crabs cake are also good to try. If you are planing for a beach walk then this place should be in your list!
